Dear Phoebe and Xander,
Today is your twelfth day in the NICU and our twelfth day blessed to be your parents.
Today was a real fun day! You got to snuggle with Aunt Ashly and Uncle Mac…you also got to get dressed in brand new onesies that Danielle bought as presents for you! You both are nothing short of loved by so many people around you…let our love fill your hearts and bodies!
Phoebe – you’re still not too happy with the milk fortifier. It makes you spit up and upsets your belly (ask Aunt Ashly…she is living proof). The good news, though, is you’re gaining some weight and we’re all happy with that! You are officially off of your caffeine today which means you’ve had no bradycardia episodes…wahoo! And if you’re good tomorrow you’ll get a bath and be moved to a big girl crib
Xander – you’re taking over 25% of your feed by bottle now! Wahoo! But, you’re still tuckered out after 10-15 minutes of bottle feeding. We know sweet boy, it’s hard. It’s a lot of coordination and each day you get better and better. You had a chill time relaxing with Uncle Mac and he even took some goofy pics he sent to grandma Rose…
Your occupational therapist, Kristin, visited us today to do some more assessments on your suck/swallow/breathe reflex. You did an evaluative test that showed both of you guys have strong sucks and are breathing, but are struggling combining it with swallowing. It’s ok! Your supposed to practicing this in the womb right now, but since you decided to meet your daddies early we get to practice with what’s called N-trainer therapy. Kristin taught us how to administer and we’ll be doing your first round of therapy tonight.
Oh, and how can we forget that we played on Snapchat today…! What fun Daddy and Abba had!
Keep growing. Keep getting stronger and stronger. You have so much love and support we hope you feel it baby boy and baby girl!
All our love,
Daddy and Abba
